Metallica this week released an expanded reissue of 1991’s Metallica along with a companion set called The Metallica Blacklist, a collection of 53 different covers from the “Black Album.”

This week’s new releases include the mammoth 20th anniversary reissue of U2’s landmark ‘Achtung Baby’ (including a $470 ‘Uber Deluxe’ edition with six CDs, four DVDs, two LPs and five 7-inches), plus ‘Lulu,’ the joint album from Lou Reed and Metallica, and a new INXS best-of.

The head-scratching combo of Lou Reed and Metallica, who’ll release their album ‘Lulu’ this fall, today released the first full track from that collaboration: ‘The View.’

Australia’s Hoodoo Gurus today announced a May 11 U.S. release date for their ninth studio album, ‘Purity of Essence,’ which the band is teasing with a six-part web mockumentary that pokes fun at Metallica’s self-help doc ‘Some Kind of Monster.’
