This week’s ‘Dark Wave’ on Sirius XM’s 1st Wave features many of the usual suspects — although not the oft-repeated Mission U.K. — plus some choice cuts from the likes of the Cocteau Twins (‘In the Gold Dust Rush’), The Teardrop Explodes (‘When I Dream’) and Bigod 20 (‘Carpe Diem’).

Tonight’s ‘Dark Wave’ on Sirius XM’s 1st Wave featured many of the usual suspects, but a few gems stuck out, including a mid-period single from the rarely played Cabaret Voltaire (‘Sensoria’), a dash of Die Warzau (‘Funkopolis’) and some off-base picks for some of the show’s bigger bands (The Smiths’ ‘Never Had No One Ever,’ The Cure’s ‘Siamese Twins,’ Depeche Mode’s ‘Shame’).

The playlist from tonight’s ‘Dark Wave’ on Sirius XM’s classic-alt station 1st Wave boasts an unusual number of deep, rarely aired cuts from regulars such as Siouxsie and the Banshees (the band’s cover of The Doors’ ‘You’re Lost Little Girl’), the Psychedelic Furs (‘Imitation of Christ’), The Jesus and Mary Chain (‘Catchfire’) and Love and Rockets (‘Holiday on the Moon’).

Tonight’s ‘Dark Wave’ on Sirius XM’s 1st Wave opened with The Cure’s ‘Disintegration,’ and featured such highlights as a rare airing of TSOL (‘Flowers By the Door’); the return of Public Image Ltd.’s ‘Rise,’ which opened the show for weeks on end earlier this year; and both Joy Division’s ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’ and the Swans’ cover.

Highlights of tonight’s ‘Dark Wave’ on Sirius XM’s 1st Wave include a cut off The The’s generally neglected ‘Dusk’ album (‘Love is Stronger Than Death’); a favorite off Morrissey’s solo debut, ‘Viva Hate’ (‘Late Night, Madulin Street’); and a real rarity in ‘No Name, No Slogan,’ the one-off 1989 single from Acid Horse, a hybrid of Ministry and Cabaret Voltaire.
