Australian college-rock faves Hoodoo Gurus dropped two big pieces of news this week: they’ve released a brand-new single called “Answered Prayers,” and, even more surprising, they announced the band’s first U.S. tour in a decade. The new single is available now on streaming services, and can be heard here.

The artistic emergence of Elizabeth Fraser — the heavenly, if reclusive, voice of the Cocteau Twins — continues with the release by Sam Lee of a new recording of ancient folk song “The Moon Shines Bright,” which finds the British folk singer duetting with Fraser. The Cure is teasing the release of its final performance of 1989’s Disintegration during a five-night run in Sydney, Australia, this past May and sharing three full songs — “Plainsong,” “Pictures of You” and “Disintegration” — taken from that concert. Watch those three clips right here.

The Jesus and Mary Chain are back in the studio working on the group’s second post-reunion album — the follow-up to 2017’s Damage and Joy — with plans to “hopefully” release it in 2020, and, if not, in 2021, Jim Reid told the publication Cryptic Rock in a recent interview. Full details right here.

The original lineup of indie-rock icons Dinosaur Jr is back in the studio working on the band’s fifth post-reunion album, the follow-up to 2016’s Give a Glimpse of What Yer Not, according to an Instagram post this week by bassist Lou Barlow. More details right here.

Wayne Hussey has re-teamed with Los Angeles alt-rock outfit Beauty in Chaos, lending his voice to the rumbling single “The Delicate Balance of All Things” off the band’s forthcoming second studio album The Storm Before the Calm — and we’re thrilled to be able to premiere the music video for the new track.

Bauhaus closed out its three-night reunion at the Hollywood Palladium on Sunday night by saving a surprise for the end of the night: the band’s first performance of its cover of Brian Eno’s “Third Uncle” since its first reunion tour in 1998 — and only its second airing since 1983. 4AD next month will celebrate the 30th anniversary of Pale Saints’ early shoegaze classic The Comforts of Madness with a multi-format reissue that will include 2CD and 2LP editions featuring previously unreleased demos and the band’s one and only John Peel session. Robert Smith is auctioning off an autographed, hand-made shirt he wore on The Cure’s Prayer Tour in 1989 in support of Disintegration and again earlier this year when the band performed that album in full on each of five nights at the Vivid Festival in Sydney, Australia. Full details right here.

The Pet Shop Boys will release their 14th studio album in January, a 10-song collection called Hotspot that will include the recently released dance track “Dreamland” — featuring Olly Alexander of the UK synthpop outfit Years & Years — as well as the new single “Burning the Heather,” which includes an assist from Bernard Butler.

Erasure will reissue their fifth studio album, 1991’s Chorus, in an expanded three-disc edition on Valentine’s Day, supplementing a remastered version of the original with two discs of new and classic remixes, B-sides, bonus tracks and a full live version of the album. Calexico and Iron & Wine have been out on the road this year in support of their 14-years-in-the-making second collaboration, Years to Burn, and have regularly been performing a cover of Echo & The Bunnymen’s “Bring on the Dancing Horses” — which they recorded in a live session for KEXP last summer.
