For their forthcoming fifth album, contemporary Greek synthpop duo Marsheaux — Marianthi Melitsi and Sophie Sarigiannidou — have decided to remake a classic, recording a song-by-song cover of Depeche Mode’s 1982 sophomore record A Broken Frame.

This week’s new releases include the belated U.S. issue of the new studio album from The Church (“Further/Deeper”), plus a reissue of OMD’s “Junk Culture,” a new Art of Noise compilation, a CD/LP box set of The Go-Betweens’ early work, plus a Stiff Little Fingers live album.

Tonight’s edition of “Dark Wave” on Sirius XM’s 1st Wave featured music from The Cure, Southern Death Cult, And Also the Trees, Severed Heads, Alien Sex Fiend, Coil, Pink Turns Blue, The Mission, Chrome, The Naked and the Dead, Specimen, Bauhaus and more.

The Waterboys have a long history of covering Prince’s epic “Purple Rain” in concert, and here’s another great take on that classic: Mike Scott and Co. on Friday performed a stripped-down cover of the song live on the air during the BBC’s “Chris Evans Breakfast Show” — which you can watch in full here.
