On eve of libel trial, NME apologizes to Morrissey: ‘We do not believe he is a racist’

With Morrissey’s libel case against the NME slated to go to trial in a month, the music weekly today apologized to the singer, writing, ‘We wish to make clear that we do not believe that he is a racist; we didn’t think we were saying he was and we apologise to Morrissey if he or anyone else misunderstood our piece in that way.’

The Pet Shop Boys this morning announced they’ll release ‘Elysium’ — their 11th studio album, and first since 2009’s ‘Yes’ — this September, and are previewing the release with a ‘short film’ for downtempo album track ‘Invisible,’ which you can watch here. The Jesus and Mary Chain add concerts in Philadelphia, Madison to expanding U.S. tour

Dates continue to slip out for The Jesus and Mary Chain’s late-summer return to North America, with concerts in Philadelphia and Madison, Wisc., joining the expanding roster. According to WXPN, JAMC will play Philly’s Union Transfer on Sept. 8, while a Sept. 19 date at Madison’s Majestic Theatre is appearing on multiple websites.
