The upcoming expanded reissue of The Smiths’ classic 1986 album The Queen is Dead, it turns out, will be bigger than originally thought. Rhino Records this morning formally announced the first-ever expanded reissue from the legendary band, revealing that it will be be released as a 3CD/1DVD boxed set.
For this week’s installment of Vintage Video, we offer up what was, at the time, the final performance by Jane’s Addiction, a concert on Sept. 26, 1991, in Honolulu that saw frontman Perry Farrell and drummer Stephen Perkins strip completely naked for several songs at the end of the main set. Peter Hook & The Light this week announced a 28-date North American tour for the spring of 2018, a trek that once again will see the band performing Joy Division’s and New Order’s classic Substance compilation albums in their entireties each night. See full dates here.
Director Mike Brook’s “warts and all” documentary on Steve Kilbey of The Church — based on the frontman’s memoir, and titled “Something Quite Peculiar: The Life & Times of Steve Kilbey” — will premiere next month at the Melbourne International Film Festival in Australia. Watch it here.
Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark today released the second official single off the group’s upcoming album The Punishment of Luxury — the title track, which is accompanied by a brand-new animated video that you can watch below. The track follows the release of first single “Isotype” in late May.
