Squeeze this week announced the release of the group’s first new studio album in two years, a 12-song collection called The Knowledge that is due out Oct. 13 and is preceded by the record’s moody opener, “Innocence in Paradise,” which you can stream in full below. Check out the first track here.
Demon Music Group next month will release a Nuggets-inspired 3CD box set compiled by longtime British radio host Gary Crowley that collects 77 tracks from 1977 to 1982, including “many rare, one-off singles which were very much in keeping with the DIY spirit of the times.”
The upcoming expanded reissue of The Smiths’ classic 1986 album The Queen is Dead, it turns out, will be bigger than originally thought. Rhino Records this morning formally announced the first-ever expanded reissue from the legendary band, revealing that it will be be released as a 3CD/1DVD boxed set.
The third in Parlophone’s series of career-spanning David Bowie box sets will be released in September as a 11 CD, 13 LP or digital download edition that features everything Bowie released between 1977 and 1982, including rarities and a new mix of Lodger by producer Tony Visconti. The Waterboys today formally announced the release of the band’s new double record, a 23-song collection called Out Of All This Blue that’s due out Sept. 8 and features “echoes of classic R&B, country, soul and funk … underpinned by modern hip-hop production values and rhythms.” See full tracklist here.
Cherry Red Records this August will release a new 3-disc Alien Sex Fiend anthology that traces the goth pioneers’ 35-year history, and which will include five previously unreleased tracks, including two new songs and unissued mixes of “Now I’m Feeling Zombiefied” and “I Walk the Line.” See the full tracklist here.
The Futurismo label this summer will reissue the limited-edition Devo rarities set Recombo DNA! — described as a career-spanning “sonic fusion of demos, alternate versions and outtakes” — on 4LPs and a 3-inch mini CD in an expanded edition with seven previously tracks.
