At long last — eight years, to be exact — Robert Smith is resuming the deluxe reissues of albums by The Cure, beginning with an expanded 3-disc edition of the 1990 remix collection Mixed Up that’s due out in June, to be followed, he says, by the long-awaited reissue of 1992’s Wish. Echo & The Bunnymen today announced that the release of the band’s new album — a collection of “some of their greatest songs” re-recorded “with strings and things attached” — will be pushed back from May to October as the group puts the final touches on the record. See full tracklist here.
Poptone — featuring Daniel Ash and Kevin Haskins, plus Haskins’ daughter Diva Dompe — will release its debut album this June, a 13-song live radio session featuring performances of songs originally recorded by Tones on Tail, Love and Rockets and Bauhaus. Johnny Marr’s third proper solo album — a 12-song collection titled Call the Comet — will be released June 15, and fans can now get their first earful of the ex-Smiths guitar-slinger’s new sounds via first single “The Tracers,” which just hit streaming platforms. Stream the first single right here.
