Trevor Horn’s groundbreaking electro-pop label ZTT Records is commemorating a major milestone this fall with The Organization of Pop: Music From The First Thirty Years of ZTT Records, a new 2CD, 28-track compilation that collects tracks from Propaganda, Art of Noise, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, 808 State and more.

The venerable Sub Pop Records is kicking things off by teaming up with Seattle’s KEXP to broadcast all afternoon from the Space Needle — atop which Mudhoney, J Mascis and more will perform throughout the afternoon. Check out full live video of today’s festivities here, via KEXP radio.

Rhino Records will follow up its 2010 Record Store Day limited-edition Factory Records sampler with a second 10-inch label sampler for this year’s event: a 4-track EP that will feature one song each from Joy Division, New Order, Happy Mondays and The Durutti Column, according to Wax Poetic.

In the wake of the 2011 Sony warehouse fire in London, a group of U.K. record labels has launched Beat Delete, a Kickstarter-like website designed “for the rescue of potentially lost releases” by allowing labels to gauge fan demand for reissues before actually re-pressing niche vinyl titles.

Fans still waiting for the long-promised DVD of 2011’s Wax Trax! Records Retrospectacle: 33⅓ Year Anniversary concert got good and bad news this week: While the concert film still isn’t finished, a new documentary is in the works that promises to chronicle the “rise and fall of Wax Trax! Records.”

Depeche Mode today announced that Columbia Records will release its upcoming 13th studio album in March, signalling an end to the synthpop act’s relationship with EMI Music, which picked up the group when it purchased Mute Records in 2002. Neither an exact release date nor the album’s title have been revealed.

The ongoing rioting in London struck a potentially devastating blow to the U.K.’s independent record labels last night when a 200,000-square-foot Sony DADC warehouse went up in flames, destroying countless records and CDs distributed by the PIAS Group on behalf of scores of indie labels including such famed imprints as Beggars Banquet, 4AD, Mute and Rough Trade.
