Johnny Marr has been documenting the recording of his third solo album on social media of late, and today the former guitarist for The Smiths revealed the upcoming LP’s title: Call the Comet. It’s not yet known when the album will arrive, though Marr tweeted “news coming soon.”

The reunited Belly — Tanya Donelly’s post-Throwing Muses, post-Breeders alt-rock outlet — will release its first album in 23 years this May, an 11-song collection that’s being previewed by first single “Shiny One” and will be supported by U.S. and U.K. tours later this year. British punk icons The Damned this week announced plans to release Evil Spirits, their first new album in a decade, this coming April — and they’re preceding the full record with the debut of its first single, “Standing on the Edge of Tomorrow,” which can you can stream right here via Spotify.

Indie-rockers Poster Children — the pride of Champaign, Ill. — will release their first new album in 14 years this May, an 11-song set called Grand Bargain! that’s preceded by the politically charged title track, released this weekend to coincide with the first anniversary of the Trump presidency. Erasure will release a fully re-recorded version of the duo’s 2017 album World Be Gone in March, a new collaboration with the Brussels-based Echo Collective called World Beyond that’s being billed as a “post-classical rework” of the group’s latest album. Industrial-metal giants Ministry this week announced they’ll release AmeriKKKant, their 14th studio album, in March, then hit the road for a 26-date North American tour to promote the record — which is preceded by first single “Antifa,” the music video for which you can watch right here. Echo & The Bunnymen will release their first new album in four years next May, a collection called The Stars, The Oceans & The Moon that will feature “some of their greatest songs” re-recorded “with strings and things attached” along with a couple brand-new songs. The band also announced U.K. dates next year.

Midnight Oil last week wrapped its mammoth Great Circle 2017 worldwide reunion tour, playing to more than 500,000 people at concerts over the past seven months. But fans who didn’t catch it, or those who want to re-live it, are in luck: the band says it may release a live document next year. After that? “Who knows.”

Proclaiming 2018 “the year of Lawrence,” Cherry Red Records next February will reissue the first five studio albums by Felt — originally released between 1982 and 1986 — and release a new record by the indie-pop outfit’s single-named mastermind with his band Go-Kart Mozart.
