In 2012, U.K. arts website The Space began posting, 100 at a time, titles from the late John Peel’s legendary record collection — reportedly numbering 26,000 LPs, 40,000 7-inches and “many thousands of” CDs. The listings included index cards, the records’ covers and, in some cases, links to stream the music on Spotify.
But it wasn’t the actual audio from Peel’s own vinyl.
That’s now changing, however, as The Space has debuted the first of six “record boxes” commissioned from famed producer Joe Boyd, who has selected more than 20 records from Peel’s massive collection to stream online. That first batch of titles includes music from Pink Floyd, 10,000 Maniacs, Toots and the Maytals, the Bonzo Dog Band, Moby Grape, Bob Dylan and more.
Included in this batch is Peel’s own copy of the Talking Heads’ “Take Me to the River” 7-inch. Via the link below, you can hear David Byrne and Co. make their way through the Al Green classic.

Looks like most tracks in Boyd’s list have his name on production credits ;)
Mostly not my cup of tea but really cool none the less. I read about and listened to most of the selection and enjoyed it very much.
I hope they do more of these and pull from periods and artists more in line with the focus of this blog.

Bullshit. No-Wave & NYC disco.
What does that even mean? Neither No-Wave nor NYC Disco are/were New Wave.
I can play the music! But ,how do you download it for FREE as you said?
