Playlist: Sirius XM’s “Dark Wave” — hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs (10/27/24)

Concrete Blonde

“Dark Wave,” hosted by Slicing Up Eyeballs’ Matt Sebastian, explores the darker side of classic ’80s alternative, including vintage goth, post-punk and industrial. The shows airs at 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Eastern every Sunday on Sirius XM satellite radio’s 1st Wave (Channel 33).

The most recent two episodes are also available to subscribers to stream via the Sirius XM app.

Got a request? Requests will be considered for future episodes as long as they fit the show’s format and fall generally within the 1st Wave era — and provided the host doesn’t harbor an intense dislike of the song. If there’s something you’d like to hear, drop it in the comments below.

Programming note: The next edition of “Dark Wave” — the annual Halloween Spectacular — will air on 1st Wave at 8 p.m. Eastern on Thursday night (Trick or Treat!) and replay in the normal Sunday time slot on Nov. 3.

  7. Michael Wenk

I’m sure you know The Cure’s new album drops at midnight 1 November. Would you please play “Drone/Nodrone” or “A Fragile Thing” from it? Thanks.

  8. Hi,
Looking forward to the Halloween Dark Wave show, would love to hear “To Walk The Night” by Samhain

  9. Fabulous set as per usual. You’ve got us all very excited for the special Halloween show on Thursday. Glad to hear it’ll be repeated next Sunday as well, looking forward to a double dose. Thanks for playing The The as the show closer, a pretty perfect closer if I may say so.

That fantastic Fall track got me thinking about an old favorite of theirs. How about “Leave the Capitol” by The Fall on a future show?

Happy Halloween darkwavers and Matt. Have a great week, cheers!

  10. Depeche Mode – A Question of Time (101 Live)

  11. Wow cannot wait for the Halloween episode super awesome!!!! Tonight’s playlist looks amazing as per usual….love the Wire, Cure and Concrete Blonde tracks especially!! I will be listening shortly.

Some possible suggestions for next time:

    NIN – Happiness In Slavery
    Skinny Puppy – I’mmortal
Type O Negative – Black No 1 (My Halloween go–to album!!)

    Thanks again as always!!!! 。◕‿◕。

  12. Glad to have three DW’s in a week’s span!

    Here’s a request –

    The Cramps – Caveman

    Thanks!

  13. Thanks for the Iron Curtain. Great show, especially Hour 2 (though I have to say: every time I hear “No Tears” I always picture Elmer Fudd doing the vocals. No idea why). Also good call on Fun Boy Three and Rudimentary Peni.

Thanks for the good music. Looking forward to hearing you Halloween. Take care.

  14. Thanks for another excellent serving of the dark stuff! And thank you for including my New Order request (followed by an awesome Bunnymen cover) – much appreciated. Other highlights Love and Rockets, the Smiths, The The…

I’m so glad you get a (much deserved) primetime spot for the Halloween show! Looking forward to it.

A request for a future shoegaze segment:
    Ride “like a daydream”

    Thank you! Happy Halloween everyone!

  15. Godflesh – Christbait Rising (1989)
Bow Wow Wow – Prince of Darkness (Sinner! Sinner! Sinner!) (1981)

  16. Thanks for a fantastic show! Highlight for me was the run from Wire through Tuxedomoon, the opening to the latter will be etched in my brain this week.

Been listening for a bit over a year now and appreciate the range of dark genres you get into in every show. I don’t think I’ve heard you play Long Fin Killie in the time I’ve been listening and would like to request a song by them…. Anything would be great to hear, but there’s always that one Mark E. Smith sings on.

    Have a wicked Halloween!

  17. Fun Boy Three?! Love it when you surprise us. “Lonely Planet” was great to hear too…

  18. Thank you SOOOO much for the shows. I love the list and always seem to find something old that’s new to explore. Halloween list was awesome!
