It certainly sounded too good to be true: Reclusive Liverpudlian one-album wonders The La’s were announced as headliners of the inaugural New York Sound City music, media and technology conference this month in what was billed as Lee Mavers and Co.’s first concert in New York City in two decades. But it’s not to be: As Brooklyn Vegan notes, the March 12 show at Webster Hall has been canceled “due to health reasons.” No other information is known about the show, but refunds are available at point of purchase.

I just can’t believe this, I’m shocked, SHOCKED!!. I have no idea why this guy is revered as some recluse indie version of syd barrett or something. The one album he produced is just not that good. Come on, it has some catchy, jangly guitar based Pop songs on it, nothing Earth shattering. This guy is just mentally disturbed.
