The Pixies’ Frank Black is touring North America next month in two guises: as Black Francis, and with Grand Duchy, the grungy synthpop duo he started with wife Violet Clark.
With the no-longer-dormant Pixies currently playing a spate of European festival dates and semi-private club shows, the erstwhile Charles Michael Kittridge Thompson IV yesterday unveiled a month’s worth of tour dates that include a dozen Black Francis solo shows and six Grand Duchy gigs between July 6 and Aug 4 (see dates below).
Whether this quashes fans’ hopes to see Pixies dates booked in the U.S. this summer remains to be seen, but Black’s publicists do note that his solo-acoustic shows will “draw on material from his entire career.”
