Record Rack: A weekly round-up of the pertinent new releases hitting stores this Tuesday:
ARTIST: Morrissey
RELEASES: Southpaw Grammar: Expanded Edition, Maladjusted: Expanded Edition, “Something Is Squeezing My Skull”
BACKSTORY: Not much of interest being released this week — unless you’re a Moz fan, either in the UK or with a predilection for buying imports. The singer is releasing his latest single off Years of Refusal, “Something Is Squeezing My Skull,” in three formats: 2 CD singles and a 7-inch. B-sides include live renditions of The Smiths’ classic “This Charming Man” and “I Keep Mine Hidden,” a “Girlfriend in a Coma” b-side that holds the distinction of being the last Smiths song recorded before Johnny Marr split the group. Morrissey this week also is reissuing — in the UK — 1995’s Southpaw Grammar with new artwork, a re-sequenced tracklist and four previously unreleased tracks. Similarly, 1997’s Maladjusted is being reissued with a new sleeve and a new, expanded track sequence filled out with the era’s b-sides.
