The Pixies have released a second short film previewing their upcoming — and pricey — box set Minotaur, this time delving into the creative process behind the set’s all-new Vaughan Oliver artwork.
The new collection, which can be pre-ordered in $150 and $450 editions starting June 15 (although it won’t ship until mid-September), will feature repackaged — but not remastered — editions of the Come on Pilgrim EP, as well as Surfer Rosa, Doolittle, Bossanova and Trompe Le Monde.
While featuring no new music, the project will include voluminous new artwork, which is being handled by 4AD mainstay Oliver, who oversaw the Pixies’ art direction in the ’80s and ’90s, and photographer Simon Larbalestier, who shot many of the photos for the original albums.
The new digital press release (see the first one here, along with full details of the Minotaur set) features interviews with band members Kim Deal, Joey Santiago and David Lovering, plus Oliver and Larbalestier describing their creative process.
